This is the most commonly used phorbol ester. It binds to and activates protein kinase C, causes an extremely wide range of effects in cells and tissues, and is a very potent mouse skin tumor promoter. Blumberg, P.M. Although PMA is quite toxic, it has shown anti-leukemic and anti-neutropenic activity in humans. Han, Z.T. et al. Beginning with our lot #F-151, we now guarantee purity of 99.5% or greater for this product as measured by HPLC at 254nm.
We notice that another vendor, Axxora/Alexis, publishes advertising claims that they are "the source" of PMA, specifically that they are "The PMA/TPA SourceTM" and "Step Up to the SourceTM". We believe this claim is simply false, and is very misleading to researchers. LC Labs manufactures its own PMA, and we are aware of several other sources worldwide. Thus, while Axxora/Alexis may be "a" source of PMA, they are certainly not "the" source.
